Citizenship & Residency by Investment

Your future should have
more than one address.

GLI Advisory guides principals and their families through second citizenship and residency, from first eligibility review through to documents in hand, with discretion at every stage.

Advising across Caribbean, European and Latin American programs. By referral and introduction.

GLI Advisory

A second citizenship is rarely bought for its own sake. It is bought for what it makes possible, and more often for what it protects against.

Our clients are principals, founders and families based across the Gulf and beyond, most holding passports that do not travel as freely as their business requires. Some are solving for mobility. Others are building a considered alternative should circumstances change. Nearly all have been approached before by firms selling a program rather than advising on a decision. We work the other way round. We establish what you are actually solving for, and only then discuss which jurisdiction, if any, answers it.

01

Mobility

Travel that matches the pace of your business, without visa applications governing your calendar or a refusal disrupting a transaction.

02

Continuity

A settled alternative for your family, held in reserve. Most clients never need to rely on it. That is precisely the point of holding it.

03

Succession

Several programs confer status that passes to children and, in some cases, to generations beyond them. It is an asset in the true sense.

04

Establishment

Residence that supports a genuine base: schooling, banking, a company, a home, in a jurisdiction you intend to actually use.

Citizenship and residency by investment

Where we advise

Citizenship confers status. Residency confers the right to live somewhere. They solve different problems, and the distinction is usually where a first conversation begins.

Citizenship by Investment

Full citizenship, typically within months

Caribbean

St Kitts & Nevis

The longest-running program in the world, established 1984. Currently undergoing the most significant reform in its history — timing matters here.

Caribbean

Antigua & Barbuda

Often the more economical route for larger families, with a residency condition in the initial period following approval.

Caribbean

Grenada

The only Caribbean citizenship with a United States investor treaty. It is also the program where the gap between what is advertised and what is actually available is widest.

Caribbean

Dominica

Among the lowest entry points in the Caribbean, with one of the region’s more rigorous due diligence frameworks. Its travel profile has narrowed since 2023.

West Africa

São Tomé & Príncipe

A newer program, chosen principally for speed. Suited to specific circumstances rather than offered as a default.

Residency by Investment

The right to reside, with a path toward citizenship in some jurisdictions

European Union

Portugal — Golden Visa

Residence in an EU member state with one of the lightest presence requirements in Europe. Permanent residence available at five years.

European Union

Portugal — HQA

A route built around a qualifying business and research activity rather than passive capital. Suited to founders and operators.

European Union

Greece — Golden Visa

Schengen residence through property, with thresholds that vary by location. No minimum stay requirement of any kind.

Latin America

Panama

Residence in a dollarised, territorially taxed jurisdiction with an established banking sector and straightforward entry routes.

How we work

Four stages, one point of contact.

You will not be handed between departments, and you will not be introduced to a new adviser once a fee is paid. The person who assesses your position is the person who sees the file through.

01

Assessment

A confidential conversation about what you are solving for — mobility, a base, family continuity, or something you have not yet articulated. We review family composition, travel patterns and source of funds position before recommending anything. Where no program is a good answer, we tell you.

02

Selection

We set out the realistic options against your objectives, including full cost, timing, and what each program genuinely requires of you. Trade-offs are stated plainly. You choose with the same information we have.

03

Preparation and submission

Document assembly, verification and source of funds evidence. This is the stage that determines whether an application survives due diligence. Files are submitted through licensed agents in the relevant jurisdiction, and we remain accountable to you throughout.

04

Through to completion

Interview preparation, biometric scheduling, settlement instructions and issuance. We stay engaged until documents are in hand — and remain available afterwards, as most programs carry obligations that outlast approval.

We would rather tell a client at the outset that a program is a poor fit than take a file we do not believe in.

The GLI Advisory position

The published price is never the price

Qualifying figures are one line in a longer schedule. Due diligence, government charges, legal costs and — on property routes — transaction and carrying costs sit above them. We model the full picture against your family composition before you commit to anything.

Programs change

Requirements, thresholds and travel access are revised by governments, sometimes at short notice. Several programs are in active reform as we write. We tell you what is settled, what is announced, and what remains unpublished.

Discretion is structural

Client matters are not referenced publicly, and we hold no client names on this website for the reason you would expect. Introductions come largely by referral, which suits both sides.

A conversation
before a commitment.

Every engagement begins with a confidential assessment — your objectives, your constraints, and an honest view of which programs are worth your attention. Held in confidence, with no obligation to proceed.
